All undergraduate and graduate students from the Environmental Department took part in a one-day “quality of development” activity in Huairou Shimenshan on April 27, 2014. They were divided into a total of six teams of 90 people, led by teachers Chen Feixing and Su Liya. Each group identified the captain, team name, team training and team song on their way to the base. After arriving at the base, they began a variety of quality development activities with some simple warm-up exercises. Taking part in activities like “ball in the air”, “high altitude bridge”, “not falling forest”, “ten people nine feet”, “survival at sea” and many other challenging games, the students learned to work together and help and trust each other, while effectively improving their fitness, perseverance, communication and many other qualities and abilities.
The most noteworthy activity was “survival at sea”, which required all players to climb over four meter walls within the specified time. Students fully showed their wisdom, potential, and collective strength. When the last one successfully leapt over the wall, the audience burst into a prolonged applause.
In the end teacher Chen made ??a summary of the event, and he spoke highly of the performance of the students, stressing the importance of the day’s activities for enhancing emotional intelligence. The Quality Development event was a success and the students were all encouraged. Some of them said that they learned a lot from the activities, and hoped to have more opportunities to participate in such quality development activities in the future, so as to build a more united, progressive, energetic and promising class group.
